I filed jointly with my boyfriend but didnt know that counts as common law marriage? What do I do to fix this?

Why would you file jointly with him and name him as your husband on a legal document like a tax return?





I digress. Consult a family law attorney. And file an amended return, while you are at it, if you want to avoid problems with the IRS.
