Question about pre-existing health conditions and marriage?

Say a couple is married, but on separate health insurance through separate employers. The husband has diabetes, the wife is healthy.

If the wife adds her husband to her plan, and it includes a pre-existing condition clause that denies coverage for 6 months, is it possible for him to continue having his own insurance for that 6 month waiting period? Or would the wife's insurance plan automatically nullify his?Question about pre-existing health conditions and marriage?
When they get married there is a short window he can be added to her insurance without waiting for the open enrollment so he will have to do it as soon as they are back from honeymoon. His insurance should give him a certificate of insurability, that waives the pre existing condition clause.Question about pre-existing health conditions and marriage?
I see no reason he can't have two health insurance policies at one time. Many people do - one is primary and one is secondary. After the six months, he can drop his policy. Just check with your HR department first before making any changes on your insurance.
As far as my knowledge, this is a question with various answers,it is really depending on the mind of yourself, providing a great resource here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/free-online-health-insurance.htm for reference though.
That's something you need to ask the insurance carrier.
