Why do people say that the definition of marriage has always been the same?

There used to be a time when miscegenation, i.e. mixed race marriage, was considered illegal in several states. Marriage was defined as one between people of the same races in our country for several decades (Mainly, to prevent whites and blacks from marrying). Eventually, the ridiculous nature of these laws was realized, and marriage was redefined to not limit marriage between certain races (see loving v. virginia). So, why make the argument that marriage has always been between one man and one woman as evidence of the fact that the definition of marriage has always been the same, when other aspects of the definition of marriage, i.e. race mixing, was redefined?Why do people say that the definition of marriage has always been the same?
What? You're telling me they did this in places like Africa?

Find me one definition of marriage that still shows this and either way, it's still man and woman.Why do people say that the definition of marriage has always been the same?

in england, there was a law that said a nobleman had the right to spend the wedding night with a commoner bride

Sorry but try as you might the definition of marriage has always been a union between a man and a woman. Trying to throw race into the mix changes nothing. Just because a state may have made those marriages illegal they would be marriages nonetheless..
